Just checking in….

I haven’t posted in awhile. Busy doing other things I guess. I had a nice time yesterday with some friends at a pottery painting studio. I painted a pineapple on a plate to put on my front porch. I can’t wait to see the finished product. Maybe I’ll post a pic of it when get it next week.

FIRE camp 2006

I’m so excited for this camp. I attended last year, quite last minute too, and it was so much fun. It is a family camp for homeschooling families. This will be the 3rd year and the “ownership” of it has been passed on to a good friend of mine, who is also the leader of the very first homeschool group I ever joined which is Homeschool Blessings (listed in my collection of links on the sidebar). I was so blessed to be able to attend a planning meeting for FIRE and other HSB events at her house yesterday. I am looking forward to stepping further out into ministry as a Christian homeschooling mother, as I try to assist her in this major undertaking. I do not yet know what God has planned for me in the future but I know this is one stepping stone down that path. The link for information on this camp is below and I am going to add it to my sidebar as well.

Sunday: God’s Reality, Survivor

2 Cor. 11:24-26, Matt.5:45

1. Expect Adversity (John 16:33, Acts 14:22, 1 Peter 4:12)
Now that I am a child of God, I should expect to be a target of the devil. He feels that I’m a threat to him.. Well, he better feel that way because I am out to get him!

2. God Uses Adversity (James 1:2-4)
God does not cause problems for me. I can do that well enough on my own. But He will use them too build my character, develop perseverance and to cause me to mature.

3. Recognize the Good That Can Come From Adversity (Romans 8:28)
* They can draw us close to God. (Psalm 27:5-6)
* They are an opportunity for others to see and glorify God
* They prove our faith genuine. (1 Peter 1:7)

4. Persevere During Adversity (2 Cor. 4:16-18, Rom 8:18)

5. Believe God will Bless and Reward Despite Adversity. (James 1:12, Hebrews 12:2)
Adversity can cause even greater blessing to come my way.

song, Postcards by Cindy Morgan

Jesusfreakhideout.com: Cindy Morgan, "Postcards" Review
"I've searched and I've traveled / My life's been unraveled / I don't know where this will lead… I'll send you a postcard / From my journey to me."

These lyrics sum up my theme for this whole blog I'm working on.  I heard the song on the radio the other day and thought it was kind of neat.

Still Progressing….

We are moving along….  Our communication is still a bit of a chore for us to do, but we haven't abandoned it.  The enemy hasn't turned his back on us though.  Today I was frought with depressing thoughts and my husband said he felt a heaviness last night.  We've made a committment to spend time in prayer together daily. Duh!  It won't be easy to get through this, but I am determined to be victorious in my life and marriage.  All through Christ who strengthens me.

My Boy is Coming Home Today!

My 5 yo son, Josiah, has been away from home visiting my parents in the U.P. for over a week now and I miss him terribly.  This trip has been a trying time for him, but the Lord is going to use for making him a stronger person.  I'm putting my faith in that.  His most recent problem along the way is that his new cousin (my sister-in-law's son) bit him on the hand this morning.  It certainly takes a piece of my heart when I'm on the phone listening to my boy cry, and I can only talk him through it.  He wants to have chicken cordon bleu for his first dinner back so I'll have to go find that today or tomorrow.

A Random Collection of Goals

  1. take a dance class like belly, Hawaiian or salsa…something fun and energetic
  2. make a will
  3. rework the family budget with Anthony and learn his “system”
  4. have a large garage sale to get rid of our “junk” and make some extra money, maybe use it for a nice, big freezer!
  5. plant a nice square foot garden or two or three
  6. learn how to can and freeze to preserve our produce
  7. make Middle Eastern pastries with phyllo dough…yumm!
  8. go to Texas next winter, see the Alamo, and visit my grandparents
  9. eat more whole-grains and fresh veggies (my organic garden should help)
  10. put some kind of watergarden in front of house
  11. read about, then start, a tropical aquarium
  12. acheive TRUE INTIMACY with my husband which includes open communication, healthy physical intimacy, and walking in the spirit together so that we can break free from the hold that sexual sin has on our marriage
  13. think of more to add to my list…..

I got mail……from God? hmmm….

I got a brochure (how I have no clue) for a study at home program to earn a certificate in Biblical Counseling. I've only started looking at it so far…but I may be interested in something like this….even just for my own personal growth as a friend and mother. But maybe God has plans for me in the future that might require these kinds of skills? I don't know…. I need to pray about this, and show my husband. :) Again, I'll keep you posted….

Angel Food Ministries

I just heard about this ministry www.angelfoodministries.com . We (my husband and I) are going to try and bring this to our area. This is such a big undertaking (for me anyway) and I hope it goes well. I'll post any updates on this for sure….
